We’re seeking a motivated and innovative ML software engineer to join us as our inaugural AI Engineer. In this role, you’ll conceive, define, and train custom models to tackle previously unsolvable problems, delivering substantial value for our customers and their clients. You’ll have the chance to pioneer new models across various domains, extending beyond the limitations of existing foundational models for our most strategic customers. As the technical authority for the model customization program, you’ll lead the way in discovering and delivering new capabilities and opportunities for our fine-tuning API. Collaboration with Applied Research, Product, and Engineering teams will be key, with oversight from the Head of Platform Success.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and training tailored models to drive business impact and innovation for our top-tier customers.
  • Proactively identifying product gaps in our fine-tuning API and providing quality feedback to the Product team.
  • Serving as the primary technical expert for the model customization program.
  • Scaling the program through best practices, knowledge sharing, documentation, tool creation, and internal technical resources.
  • Acting as a liaison between Applied Research, GTM, Product, and Engineering, particularly in exploring new model techniques for customer use cases.
  • Exploring novel applications of our foundational models across different domains.

We’re in search of a Data Engineer to spearhead the development of our data pipelines, critical for driving analyses, informing business decisions, fostering product growth, and safeguarding against malicious activities. In this position, you will:

  • Design, construct, and oversee our data pipelines to seamlessly integrate user event data into our data warehouse.

You may excel in this role if you:

  • Possess 3+ years of experience as a data engineer and a total of 8+ years of software engineering experience (including data engineering).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in Data Engineering, such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Have experience with distributed processing technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Flink, and distributed storage systems (e.g., HDFS, S3).
  • Are well-versed in ETL schedulers such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar frameworks.
  • Have a solid understanding of Spark and the ability to write, debug, and optimize Spark code.

As an early member of our Data Scientist team within the Applied Product division, you’ll play a pivotal role in instilling a culture of data-driven product development, either for consumer products or our developer platform, at NextMigrant. Your responsibilities will include defining key performance indicators, crafting initial A/B tests, and establishing dashboards that serve as the definitive source of truth for the entire company’s product inquiries. Crucially, you’ll be a central figure in the product development team, contributing to the creation of our primary offerings. 

 

In this capacity, you will:

  • Integrate seamlessly with the product development team as a valued collaborator, uncovering novel ways to enhance the product and stimulate growth.
  • Define and interpret A/B tests to address pivotal questions regarding the impact of model and user experience alterations on our product.
  • Foster a data-centric product development ethos by spearheading the delineation, monitoring, and operationalization of metrics at the feature, product, and organizational levels.
  • Create and disseminate dashboards, reports, and other tools to empower the team and organization to autonomously address product-related data inquiries.

 

You may excel in this role if you possess:

  • Over 5 years of experience in a quantitative capacity, navigating environments characterized by significant ambiguity, ideally having served as an inaugural data scientist or product analyst within a rapidly growing product company or research organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in proposing, designing, and executing rigorous experiments yielding clear insights and actionable product recommendations, utilizing SQL and Python.
  • Proven ability to define, implement, and operationalize new metrics at the feature and product levels from inception.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of effectively conveying insights to product managers, engineers, and executives alike.
  • Strategic acumen extending beyond traditional statistical significance testing paradigms.

We’re seeking an experienced machine learning engineer to tackle retrieval and search challenges across our API. With the evolution of the AI landscape, retrieval and search have emerged as pivotal applications for our models, and we’re committed to delivering top-notch search-based experiences for our users. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of our efforts in retrieval and search, with the potential to impact millions of end users.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating closely with our research team to develop retrieval and search algorithms and methodologies, addressing challenges in areas such as document search, enterprise search, knowledge retrieval, and web-scale search.
  • Implementing these search methodologies into production.
  • Exploring innovative research topics in retrieval and search that could shape our product strategy in the medium to long term.

  • Competence in at least one backend language (we predominantly use Python).
  • Some familiarity with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
  • A keen interest in AI/ML and Safety (direct experience is not mandatory).
  • The ability to navigate swiftly in an environment where objectives may be loosely defined and competing priorities or deadlines are common.
